It takes 3-3.5 hours on a normal snow fall to plow and sand/salt the roads. Trucks travel around 25 mph. Please be cautious and give them plenty of room.
-Plow truck safety
When approaching a plow truck please slow down and give them plenty of space. With the bad conditions (snow and wind) they will have a tough time seeing behind them. Please slow down
-Snow removal
Please do not leave snow in the road after cleaning your driveway or sidewalk. Try to do your best to keep it off the road. Push it back into your yard.
-Garbage and Recycle cans
Garbage and recycle cans should be in your driveway or yard. Not in the road or shoulder of the road. Plow drivers have the responsibility to clean the road for your safety. Its very difficult to clean the road when cans are placed in the road.
-Parked cars
Please leave your cars in your driveway. Do not park in the road or the shoulder of the road. Plows can not clean the road with cars in the way.
-Mailboxes
Plow drivers do there best to plow around mailboxes. But unfortunately they do get hit. Most of the time it’s the slush or snow that comes off the plow that hits the mailbox. Although its not required to, we do our best to fix or replace mailboxes that are damaged from snow removal. We carry spare parts and try to fix them in a timely manor. Please take a look at your mail box and post. When’s the last time you have replaced your post? Majority of mailbox posts are made of wood. In our climate the wood will eventually rot over time. Please keep them well supported and a good foot off the blacktop.
Just a reminder plow drivers work long hours and do there best to keep the roads clean for everyone’s safety. Hope everyone has a safe winter.
Thanks for your time
